November 11, 2010 Walter returned from Italy where he received approval from the City of Genoa to establish a non-profit organization to support one of his favorite sites in Italy, the Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno. This historic cemetery is the largest open-air sculpture museum in Europe, and holds the finest collection anywhere of late 19th and early 20th century marble sculpture. Many of the works are in critical need of restoration, so that we can preserve this legacy for future generations. Our new organization, American Friends of Italian Marble Sculpture (AFIMS) will address this need in cooperation with the city of Genoa.
